Famous Festivals of India



India is the famous country and here are many festivals celebrated. It has diverse religious. Here many religions people lives in India as Hindu, Christians, Muslim, Sikh etc. 

Here are famous festivals given, which is celebrated in India.

Makar Sankranti & Pongal:
It is celebrated in the January second week. This festival is celebrated in different ways. In north India, it is celebrated by the kite flying. Kite is flied in Gujarat and some regions of Rajasthan. 


 Pongal is the four day festival, which is especially celebrated in Tamil Nadu. It is the most important festival in Tamil nadu. On this day people pray from God for wealth and health.


Holi:



 It is also the most important festival of India. This festival is also called “The Festival of colors”. This festival comes in the month of March. It is the celebration of two days: Holika dahan and Dhulandi. On the day of Holika dahan, People play with color and water. Holi is played in India in best places like Mathura, Vrindavan, Dwarka. 


Easter: 

 
It is the most awaited festival for Christians. It is also very special day and auspicious day for Christians. This festival is celebrated in the first week of April month. This year, it will celebrate on 05th April 2015 (Sunday). This festival always comes on Sunday in the first week of April month. The best places to celebrate Easter are Goa and Kerala. 

People buy new clothes and decorate eggs on Easter day. On this day Easter Basket is filled by chocolates, decorated eggs and many other things.

Maha Shivratri:


 It is famous festival of Hindus. It is celebrated because Lord Shiva married with Goddess Parvati. This festival is celebrated in the month of February of every year.   


Janmasthami:


This Festival is celebrated because Lord Krishna was borned in this day. All the temples of Krishna are celebrated all over India. This festival usually comes in the month of August or September.
